Kremlin sees no political fallout from economic crisis

MOSCOW, Apr 21 (PRIME) -- The Kremlin does not agree with the idea that economic difficulties may lead to political consequences, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

“We do not agree with such formulation in general, in conceptual terms. Of course, the Kremlin and the coordination commission are closely watching the social and economic environment in various regions. Of course, the coronavirus pandemic could not have left out our state aside of the crisis conditions,” he said.

Peskov added that Russia is an “integral part of the global society, the global economy, and we also suffer from difficulties… As soon as the epidemiological danger weakens, (the Russian regions) will gradually return to economic life.”

On Monday, 200 people organized an authorized meeting against the lockdown regime in Vladikavkaz, the capital of Russia’s republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
